Tips To Stay Healthy When You’re Crazy Busy

Time and time again I’ve heard the excuse, “But I’m too busy to [workout/eat healthy/cook at home]!” The truth is, that it isn’t easy being healthy and taking care of ourselves, but if it’s something that is a priority for us. We will find the time or ways to make it easier. Here’s a few of my tips to stay healthy when you’re crazy busy.

Prepare Meals in Advance and Take Them With You

Bulk cooking you meals on the weekends or on a day that works best for you will leave you prepared to eat healthy all week. Making everything ahead of time in proper portion sizes make it easy to grab your meals and go. Pre-portioned healthy snacks are another must! Measure your carrots, celery, nuts, etc and have them individually packaged in correct portions for easy snacking!

Use the Crockpot

I’m a HUGE crockpot fan! I love using them for meal prep on busy nights so that dinner is done when I get home. You can literally cook almost anything in them — meats, potatoes, vegetables and more! Just toss it all in, turn it on and forget about it!

Use Smoothies and Shakes for Quick, Easy Breakfasts

Tossing water, Shakeology, kale, spinach, and berries takes all of a few seconds. A few seconds to mix, then rinse the blender and you’re out the door. So simple and easy to get a quick healthy breakfast!

Remember the 80/20 Rule

Don’t forget that 80% of your weight loss success is based on of your NUTRITION, and 20% is your FITNESS and EXERCISE. Try and keep your nutrition on point before exercise. You will keep seeing results if you keep your nutrition on point and stay hydrated.

Stay Hydrated

You should be drinking half your body weight in ounces of water (as a general rule). If you’re exercising strenuously or live in a warmer climate you will need additional water. Every cell, tissue and organ in your body needs the proper amount of water to function the way it’s suppose to. Not to mention it keeps hunger at bay and will lessen the possibility of filling up on empty calories.

Choose a designated water bottle or container, try to find one that has measurements on it so you can keep track of your water intake. It is your new shadow. It should go everywhere with you. Set an alarm on your phone if you need to remind you to drink your water!

Schedule Fitness As A Priority

Schedule your fitness as if it were an important meeting or other appointment. Set a reminder on your phone, block out time on your calendar. Even it it’s just a few minutes, get your heart rate up and utilize what you can to get in a good workout. Don’t be afraid to get creative and keep moving!

Use Technology

There are so many fantastic apps out there to use. MyFitnessPal, RunKeeper, Nike Training, C25K, P90x, etc. Check them all out and find one that works for you!

Have A Mentor or Coach

It’s amazing to have an unbiased person that can help guide you in life, especially during stressful times or times when you are struggling. You might think you are too busy to schedule a couple of hours a month to talk to someone, but believe me, you need to make the time. Having a fresh perspective on things can make a world of difference!
